Starting Martial Arts After 30 — And Why It Works

You are not too old, too out of shape, or too late. You are just untrained, and that is a solvable problem.

The most common thing we hear from adults on their first visit is a version of the same sentence: I should have started years ago. The second most common is: I'm not in shape enough yet.

You do not get in shape and then start. You start, and getting in shape is what happens along the way.

Conditioning scales to you

Rounds are timed, not measured against the person next to you. A first-week student and a five-year student work the same drill at different intensities. Both leave having trained.

Technique beats athleticism

Striking rewards precision, timing, and balance far more than raw speed. Those are learnable at any age, and adults learn them faster than kids because they can absorb detailed correction.

The hour is yours

For most of our adult students, the training hour is the only part of the day with no phone, no inbox, and one clear task. That is worth as much as the conditioning.
